Honorary Advisor to the Japan Oman Society
I would like to extend my special thanks to His Excellency Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, for honoring the Japan Oman Society in assuming the post as Honorary Chairman. I would also like to extend my high appreciation to His Excellency Mr. Yasutoshi Nishimura, Chairman of the Society and Senior Vice Minister of the Cabinet Office, and Ambassador Keiji Omori, President of the Society, for their time and efforts put to materialize establishing the Japan Oman Society.
It is my honor and pleasure to express my deep appreciation to the Japan Oman Society and its member’s for their activities to promote and enhance our two nations and people’s friendship and understanding. It is also my pleasure to extend my heartfelt congratulations on the revitalization of the Japan Oman Society.
In historical scale, Japan’s relations with Oman are the oldest with an Arab country. Our contacts started almost 400 years ago and were founded on mutual respect. It has since then been developed with reciprocal trust and friendship. On the other hand in official scale, our two nations celebrated the 40th Anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations in 2012. Namely Oman and Japan have opened the new chapter. I believe that Oman’s relationship with Japan is only going to become stronger in the coming years.
Since its rebirth in 2011, the Japan Oman Society has already been actively playing an important role to bring us closer in a variety of areas particularly in the field of culture. I am certain that the Society will expand its fields of cooperation and activities.
I would like to affirm my support to the Society, and I sincerely wish our two nations stronger ties of friendship, prosperity and deep understanding.
